Ace D&H Consultants Completes Midterm Review for the Forests for a Just Future Programme

Ace D&H Consultants has successfully concluded the Midterm Review (MTR) of the Forests for a Just Future (FfJF) programme, a key initiative of the Green Livelihoods Alliance (GLA). The FfJF, spearheaded by Milieudefensie (MD) alongside five other alliance members including Gaia Amazonas, the IUCN National Committee of the Netherlands (IUCN NL), the Non-Timber Forest Products-Exchange Programme Asia (NTFP-EP Asia), the Sustainable Development Institute (SDI), and Tropenbos International (TBI), is designed to promote sustainable forest management and support community-based conservation efforts across multiple countries.
Funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a substantial budget of up to 46 million euros, the FfJF programme operates in conjunction with 70 civil society organisation (CSO) partners, alongside numerous other CSOs, community-based organisations (CBOs), and Indigenous organisations across forest landscapes. The programme also collaborates with technical partners Fern and Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), and closely works with its strategic partner the Global Forest Coalition (GFC).
The MTR, conducted from March to October 2023, aimed to assess the progress of the FfJF programme towards its targets, understand the influence of external factors, and provide recommendations for adjustments to enhance the programme’s impact for the remaining period. It focused on two main objectives: evaluating the programme’s progress and reflecting on partnership collaboration for greater impact. The review covered interventions in Bolivia, Cameroon, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Liberia, Malaysia, Philippines, Uganda, and Viet Nam.
Ace D&H Consultants, through this external and participatory review process, has provided valuable insights for monitoring, learning, accountability, and internal communication within the FfJF programme. The MTR is intended to help the GLA and its partners learn from the experiences gained during the first half of the five-year grant agreement period and guide the planning and implementation strategies for the forthcoming phase.
Ace D&H Consultants expresses gratitude towards the GLA for the opportunity to support the FfJF programme, contributing to its goal of fostering sustainable livelihoods and conservation efforts in critical forest landscapes globally.
